Jeff Armstrong was born and raised east of Dallas in Sunnyvale, Texas. He received his bachelor's degree from Hardin Simmons University in Abilene, Texas, and his MDIVBL from Southwestern Seminary in Ft. Worth, Texas. He has served churches in Texas, Missouri, Florida, Kentucky, and Tennessee. Jeff and his wife Kelly have four children, one daughter and three boys. In his spare time, Jeff loves fishing, hanging with his family, and cheering for the Dallas Cowboys and Texas Longhorns.

Matt Gillis is a family man, married to Millie Gillis, and they have two adult sons, one daughter-in-love, and a granddaughter. As a Christian businessman, Matt has 27 years of experience in the banking and finance industry, where he honed his finance, marketing, leadership, and coaching skills. Matt transitioned to Church At The Cross in 2021, where he brings his vast expertise to the table. He is passionate about helping people grow and achieve their goals, and he believes that with the right guidance and support, anyone can succeed. Matt enjoys spending time with his family, traveling, and gardening in his free time.

John started singing at a very young age and God continued to bless him with a career in the Arts and on Broadway (Miss Saigon, Lion King). He grew up in Louisville, KY (a southern boy) and attended performing arts schools from late elementary through college.
His credits include 20 years at Walt Disney World, “Enviropals” (currently running on PBS) and a 10-year member of the acclaimed International Acapella group “Rockapella” (from the hit PBS show “Where in the World is Carmen San Diego”). As God started to stir his heart, he began to realize that his passion for the stage became a passion for the platform to worship Jesus. That conviction led him to step down from the entertainment industry and pursue God's will in his life with the Worship Ministry at CATC for over 14 years. Brother John is happily married to his beautiful wife Cristina of 20 years with five children.

Landon Floyd
Children's Ministry Pastor

Landon Floyd married his wife Alyssa in 2019. Landon was born and raised in Orlando, Florida and has one daughter. He has been a part of Church at the Cross his whole life. He is a graduate of Leavell College with a Bachelor of Arts in Chrisitan Ministry. He is pursuing a Master of Arts degree in Christian and Community Ministries through New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. He will complete this in Fall 2025.
Landon Floyd has been on staff with Church at the Cross since 2013. He has served in a variety of Next Generation ministry roles including Preteen Director, Middle School Director, Interim Student Director, Associate Children’s Director, Interim Children’s Director and most recently as the Children’s Pastor. He was ordained through Church at the Cross in 2022. The Lord has given Landon the desire to partner with parents in the discipleship of their children. His greatest desire is to help parents build kindling around the hearts of their children, and to see the Holy Spirit light that fire, leading to a belief in Jesus Christ as their Savior.

Wes Barker

Pastor Wes grew up in Mississippi, but has lived in several different states (TX, LA, MS, NC, FL). He loves sharing stories of his time in each state. His greatest passion in life is studying and teaching the Bible. Wes previously served as the middle and high school Bible teacher for our own Central Florida Christian Academy. He and his wife, Claire, love going to the gym together and playing any outdoor sport.
Dr. Dexter Johnson
Associate Pastor of Legacy Adults / Pastoral Care / Classic Worship

Pastor Dexter has been on our CATC staff since 1983. He surrendered his life to Jesus Christ at the age of seven and, as a teenager in 1970, Pastor Dexter began pursuing the call of God on his life in serving Him through local church related ministries.
Pastor Dexter is married to Ann, the “love of his life.” She has faithfully supported and served alongside Pastor Dexter in the Children’s music, Legacy Adults, and other ministries since coming to CATC. They are the proud parents of four children and “Grandpa” and “Grandma” to ten grandchildren.
Pastor Dexter counts it a great honor and a wonderful privilege to serve God and minister to the “family” at CATC through the Music and Legacy Adults ministries. He desires to “make much of Jesus” as he continues to serve Him for as many years as God will allow.
Pastor Dexter loves the precious moments that he is able to spend with his wife, children, and grandchildren. When he’s not ministering to the “flock” at CATC or spending time with his family, he enjoys playing golf with his friends or making a feeble attempt at playing pickleball.
